| This privacy statement explains who we are, how and why we collect, use and store your personal information and who you can contact if you have any concerns. We are known as Newcastle Hospitals Private Healthcare and further information about us can be found on this website. As a private patient (non-NHS) you may be receiving care from clinicians and professionals who work in the NHS/ Newcastle Hospitals, such as surgeons, anaesthetists and/or from clinicians and professionals who do not work in the NHS, such as private health companies you may have engaged with. When you engage with Newcastle Hospitals Private Healthcare services, we will collect information such as your personal details and relevant medical and social care history. We are required to collect this information in order to provide you with our services e.g. to help inform staff of your needs, to make decisions about your treatment and care and to ensure you receive the highest standard of care. This also makes sure that all staff involved in your care have the most accurate and up-to-date information to make appropriate decisions when needed. All information collected about you and your private care records are stored securely by Newcastle Hospitals Private Healthcare and will be separate from any care records held by Newcastle Hospitals and/or from any encounters you may have had with other clinicians and professionals who work in health and social care. All information will be stored securely in line with the Data Protection Act 2018 and confidential in line with legal requirements. Under the Data Protection Act we must establish a legal basis to process your information. When your personal information is processed for the purposes of providing you with private healthcare, we will rely on the following legal basis: Article 6(1)(b) – The processing of personal data is necessary for the performance of entering into a contract for you to receive private healthcare treatment; Article 9(1)(h) – The processing of sensitive information is necessary for the purposes of medical diagnosis and the provision of healthcare services. We will only share information about you to those involved with your treatment or care, to the PHIN, to your select agents and, if applicable, to any person or organisation who may be responsible for meeting your treatment expenses. Please note that such people or organisations may wish to send details of your expenses to companies outside of the EEA for processing.
