Experience:
Mr Dobson is a consultant orthopaedic surgeon, specialising in knee reconstruction and knee replacement surgery, hip replacement and trauma. He graduated from Newcastle Medical School in 2007 and trained in orthopaedics in the North East of England, before completing two years of specialist fellowship training in Australia.
He completed a fellowship in knee, hip and sports injury surgery at the Brisbane Orthopaedic and Sports Medicine Centre in Queensland and a fellowship in major trauma at the John Hunter Hospital in New South Wales. Alongside his clinical training, he undertook a PhD at Newcastle University on bone health and ageing.
Mr Dobson provides a full spectrum of modern treatment options, from physiotherapy referral and joint injections through to advanced surgery such as robotic assisted hip and knee replacement, knee preservation surgery and complex knee reconstruction.
As well as his clinical work, he is involved in teaching and training future surgeons and has received national recognition for his research. He works as a consultant within Newcastle Hospitals NHS Trust.
