Experience:
Mr French has been a consultant surgeon for 16 years in a large specialist tertiary referral hospital and he has performed hundreds of major resections with outstanding results.
He specialises in complex gallbladder surgery, performing approximately 100 removals (cholecystectomies) each year, and has extensive experience in redo or challenging cases.
Hernia surgery is also part of his practice and he performs approximately 100 hernia repairs per year.
In addition to the above Mr French also carries out cutaneous lipoma surgery.
He has held positions as head of department, clinical director for surgical services, and hepato-pancreato-biliary (HPB) lead for the Northern Cancer Alliance and is currently the quality and safety lead for surgery and associated specialties.
Nationally he has been the college tutor for the Royal College of Surgeons of England, secretary of the Pancreatic Society and committee member of the Great Britain and Ireland HPB Society.
