- Camera investigation of the nose, throat, back of tongue and voice box (flexible nasolaryngoscopy)
- Camera investigation to assess vocal cord vibration (stroboscopy)
- Nose bleed treatment (nasal caurtery)
- Surgery for the tonsils and adenoids
- Surgery for the vocal cords (microlaryngoscopy) including biopsies, injections and surgery to improve the voice (phonosurgery).

Experience
Mr Benjamin Cosway is a consultant ear, nose and throat (ENT) surgeon at the Freeman in Newcastle and the north east’s only specialist in both laryngology and head and neck surgery.
He treats voice disorders, airway problems, and head and neck conditions, including thyroid and salivary gland lumps, using advanced diagnostic techniques and minimally invasive surgical approaches.
His clinical expertise includes:
- Voice disorders, with specialist care for professional voice users
- Airway and breathing problems
- Head and neck conditions, including throat disorders and thyroid and salivary gland lumps.
As an experienced performer with Voice of the Town, Mr Cosway has appeared on national stadium tours and in London’s West End, offering unique insight when treating singers, actors and other professional voice users.
Nationally, he co-authored the UK Head & Neck Cancer Guidelines, serves as training programme director for future head and neck surgeons, and represents laryngology for the British Association for Performing Arts Medicine (BAPAM).
