Thaw and replacement of embryos
Description
This treatment – also known as frozen embryo transfer (FET) or frozen embryo replacement (FER) – uses embryos that were frozen for future use. They are gently thawed and checked by the fertility team and if they thaw well, one embryo is placed into the womb in a simple procedure similar to a cervical screen (smear) test. No anaesthetic is needed, and you can usually go home shortly afterwards.
